GrowthIGF-1 DES(1-3) is a truncated variant of IGF-1 LR3 — three amino acids shorter, at 67 residues instead of LR3's 83. That shorter N-terminus actually increases its binding affinity at the IGF-1 receptor roughly tenfold, but it clears the body in 20-30 minutes versus LR3's 20-30 hours, making its action far more localized and short-lived than LR3's extended systemic exposure.
Is IGF-1 DES the same as IGF-1 LR3?+
No — same parent hormone, different modification. DES removes three N-terminal amino acids for a short, potent, localized effect; LR3 adds amino acids for a long, systemic one.
Which is more potent?+
DES has higher intrinsic receptor affinity, but LR3's much longer half-life gives it more total systemic exposure over time. "More potent" depends on which effect (peak local activity vs. sustained circulating levels) is being measured.
