The human trial used gene therapy, not injectable peptide
The only human clinical data for follistatin-344 comes from a gene therapy trial — an AAV1 viral vector delivering the FS344 gene directly into muscle tissue in Becker muscular dystrophy patients (n=6), not injectable follistatin-344 peptide. No adverse events were reported, and liver/kidney/blood/muscle-enzyme markers stayed normal. There is no FDA-approved injectable follistatin product, no established human pharmacokinetics for an injected follistatin-344 peptide, and no clinical trial evidence for that specific product form — this is a meaningfully important distinction, not a minor technicality, since the actual product sold is nothing like what was studied in humans.
How does it actually build muscle?+
By removing a brake, not adding fuel. It binds and neutralizes myostatin — a protein whose entire job is to limit muscle growth — so blocking it lets muscle protein synthesis run further than normal. In animal studies, a single dose produced muscle mass increases over 20%, lasting more than two years in some cases.
Is there a real injury risk with it?+
Yes, and it's mechanical rather than toxicity-related — muscle can grow faster than your tendons and ligaments adapt, since connective tissue strengthens much more slowly than muscle. Fast, dramatic muscle gain without matching tendon/ligament adaptation is a real injury setup.
